Simplicity pattern 9013 – Misses Dress version B

When simplicity winter/holiday 2019 collection came out, I was happy that they have a similar look with what I was looking for. I found this dress online and it cost about $200. Hellooooooo! I wasn’t going to spend $200 for a dress alone. (*Well, I probably would if I’m a millionaire). So I was on a mission to recreate a similar look that’s not going to break my bank.

The pattern is Simplicity 9013 – Misses’ Dress in two lengths. I bought my pattern during the Joanns sale for only $1.99

First let’s talk about the fabric, I used this dreamy mini bloom printed viscose from blackbird fabrics. It is lightweight and comfortable, is soft to the hand and a lovely fluid drape. I am happy that I made a good decision on buying this fabric. It became my absolute favorite!

Okay, now let’s move on to the sewing part. Honestly, the whole sewing process was a pain! I sewed version B with longer sleeves. I made a mistake of doing the size 8. I knew that simplicity patterns run big, always in my case! And still I went ahead and sewed the size 8. (I’m only human!) Pattern size chart says that the Bust is 31 1/2 in, waist 24 in, and hips 33 1/2 in which exactly what my measurements are (*rolling eyes). Anyway, since I am also hard headed! I skipped trying it out on the muslin, which I usually do when I use good fabrics (again, only human!). First, I took about 2 inches off the back and then tried it on but it still was not the way I wanted it to fit. Now the length of the bodice was past my waist. I wanted it above my waist so it would not make me look shorter (short girls problem!)

Long story short, the whole process took me a full day just sewing and ripping and sewing and ripping again!

Don’t be like me, when you feel like everything is going south. Yowwww! It’s time to take a break!

In the end I still manage to pull it back together, my third time of resewing it was a success! Yahooooooo!!!! The fit and the length were already perfect! It was to my liking.

Now this dress is one of my favorites. I have worn this dress over the colder weather, I just threw on some leggings and styled with booties. Also, I think this dress would be perfect for any occasion!

If you are reading this, Thanks Dolls! I’ve just waisted 5 minutes of your life! πŸ˜€
